Hangover 3 Movie Scriptwriter Hired

Update - The word is that The Hangover 3 will actually take place in the border city Tijuana, Mexico (well much of the new film should be shot in Los Angeles and Las Vegas before taking Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis south of the border into Mexico)


Scriptwriter Craig Mazin who co-wrote the script of The Hangover 2 has been hired a script for the Hangover 3, hence confirming that the studios intend to continue the franchise.

From what I heard, Director Todd Philips wants a different direction for the story of the Hangover 3. And a possible location could be Amsterdam in the Netherlands in Europe.

Hangover 3 Movie

I think I read that Actor Zach Galifianakis said that the Hangover 2 would be the last Hangover movie. But it now sounds like we may hope for a Hangover 3 movie. Director Todd Philips kind of wants to leave the door open for a new sequel:

"If we were to do a third one, and quite honestly we really haven’t talked about it as we just finished the movie two weeks ago, this is the first time we’ve all been together in awhile. If we were to do a third one, if the audience, if the desire was there, I think we have a clear idea where that would head and it’s certainly not in the same template you’ve seen these movies and obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy as you can imagine, the third would very much be a finale and an ending.

The most I could say about it and I haven’t discussed it with these actors is that it is not following that template but very much a new idea. As far as where it takes place… I’m very open like the Olympic committee to being pitched and presented cities… flown around with wine and women and bribed and then I will make my decision."

The director also half-jokingly hinted at possible spin-off movie that would focus on Mr Chow (Ken Jeong):

"Mr. Chow is definitely a man of mystery like Austin Powers and obviously he has a web woven deep in crime. I love this world that we've created"

The production of the Hangover 3 definitely depends on the success of the second opus. But this is already a given, The hangover 2 is going to be a blockbuster. So I guess we may get ready for the Hangover Part 3.
